Blood and Brood is an LML Original Horror/Survivor Game built on Unreal Engine
Blood and Brood is a dark, hyper-realistic survival game built in Unreal Engine that explores the brutal life cycle of mosquitoes and their place in a hostile ecosystem. Players experience the world from a microscopic perspective, navigating predators, disease, and environmental hazards while evolving their brood to survive. Blending horror, science, and strategy, the game transforms everyday creatures—spiders, centipedes, dragonflies—into terrifying giants when seen up close. At its core, Blood and Brood is about balance and survival, where every decision can shift the ecosystem toward growth or collapse.

Bold Jumping Spider
Phidippus audax
The Rituallistic Hunter
The bold jumping spider (Phidippus audax) is one of the deadliest predators in Blood and Brood, using its sharp vision and explosive leaps to ambush mosquitoes anywhere—walls, ceilings, or mid-air. Unlike web-builders, it stalks and pounces with precision, forcing players to master evasive flight and decoy tactics. Its presence creates constant tension: while it sometimes hunts rival insects, easing pressure on the brood, a mosquito swollen with blood becomes its prime target, embodying the game’s brutal balance of survival and predation.
Mosquito
Culex pipiens
Hatch, grow, emerge, reproduce, feed
Our main protagonist of Blood and Brood, the Female Mosquito, has humble beginnings in an aquatic world that each player must navigate if they want to emerge from the depths into flight

Each Mosquito is fleeting, but the choices you make in the game can have long term consequences for the fate of not only your survival, but your offspring.

Emerge from the water into a world full of danger; spiders, dragonflies, centipedes, and more. Navigate the flying simulator and locate a worthwhile sire. As a female, you must mate and feed to produce the life-giving nutrients to propagate and flourish.

Your life is fleeting, but important to the clan. If you fail to survive, so does your offspring, and so does your legacy. Each failure and accomplishment either reduces or solidifies your legacy. Choose wisely and always remember, The World is a Dangerous Place

The bold, fast, relentless, and always hunting, House Centipede is a voracious apex predator. Dozens of thrashing legs and lightning bursts of speed, it chases mosquitoes through walls and floors, turning once-safe hiding spots into sudden death traps. Unlike spiders, which stalk and wait, the centipede is pure pursuit—relentlessly drawn to the scent of blood once a mosquito feeds. Its unpredictability and reach make it a constant high-level threat, embodying the game’s theme that the world, no matter how small, is savage and unforgiving

Fastidious, resourceful, fearless
The brown-banded cockroach is a territorial, fast-moving wall-dweller in Blood and Brood. While not a predator, it is fiercely defensive and will aggressively ram into any intruder that disrupts its path or threatens its brood. These cockroaches inhabit tight, high-traffic corridors behind walls and ceilings—areas the player must often navigate to reach breeding grounds, hidden water, or escape routes. Traveling through their domain is dangerous; if provoked or obstructed, they will strike with enough force to stun or displace the player. Though they don’t seek you out, these cockroaches are an ever-present threat in their own right—claiming space, protecting their nests, and punishing any creature foolish enough to cross them.

The Green Darner plays a crucial role of the skies; it culls the weak, it cleanses the capable.
The open skies are perilous; few make it through the gauntlet.
Though rarely encountered in enclosed spaces, its occasional appearance near windows or open vents signals danger. Its presence in the game serves as both a spectacle and a sudden, brutal reminder of the fragility of the mosquito's life.
Rat
Rattus norvegicus
Apex Ariel Predator
Rattus norvegicus is a perilous enigma; territorial, intelligent, and deeply social
Their blood is among the richest a parasite can find, flowing with nutrients and offering a seamless path for infection
But proximity to a rat is never without risk
They are high-risk, high-reward bloodmeals that reward the bold.
And those who survive earn more than sustenance; they earn bragging rights.
